At least 1/3rd of the population we serve across homes, our clinic, local schools and virtually across California benefit from high tech AAC📱

ALL of our clients and students have benefited from different forms of AT in their therapy sessions in one way or another 🖊️ 🗓️ ⌨️⌚️🖲️

We are tired of relying on insurances’ outdated systems to fund devices for our clients who need them most ❌✋🏻

So we’ve partnered with 3 AT companies instead to not only quicken the process for our clients and their families but provide us with more options, robust options and individualized options

We are also proud to share that one of our very own speech therapists has become a certified ATP allowing us to learn more as a team, provide our clients and families with support, and connect with our AT consultants to continue serving our clients and students best❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥

In my 6+ years working as an SLPA, I found my calling for the field of speech language pathology. My calling always felt like more than providing treatment. The bureaucratic systems in the wrong place of work is what always drove me to make a real change once the doors opened for me. Thank you to New York University for giving me a comprehensive master degree education needed to level up to CCC-SLP!

In 1 year, we grew from a team of 5 to 24 including speech therapists, mental health therapists, volunteers and graduate student clinicians.

In 1 year, we grew from ~50 clients to over 400 clients serving home health, in our La Mesa clinic, virtually across California and local school contracts.

In 1 year, I have learned that the hardest part of this role is hiring the right people for our ND affirming team.

I am beyond grateful for the warm, passionate, educated, dedicated and unique team we have built over the past year! All that has been built couldn’t have been done without this incredible team! 🫶🏻✨

As speech and occupational therapists, we know that ABA is not the best service for ALL of our autistic children and adolescents who exhibit neurodivergence. ♾️⚡️🩵

We have seen how it can be harmful, traumatic and controversial for those who truly do not benefit from the service.

We also see the positive impact it can have on those who do benefit and appreciate collaborating with ABA therapists as much as we can in an effort to better serve our clients and families.

I am elated that the AMA has finally opened its doors to recognizing more evidence based services for our autistic individuals especially DIR Floortime. 👏🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻

Floortime is based on the Developmental Individual-difference Relationship based model founded by two pediatric psychiatrists, Dr. Greenspan and Dr. Weider.

I became trained in Floortime in 2013 when I worked solely with autistic children between the ages of 1 and 18 years.

I was working as a Mental Health Therapist at a Center for Autism and met Speech Language Pathologists that contracted into the facility and saw how they intervened with our autistic children. This was when I experienced an epiphany that I needed to pursue my Master’s degree in Communicative Sciences and Disorders.

Fast forward 10 years, my #1 approach to providing successful speech and language intervention revolves around DIR Floortime.
